What is the Mississippi defensive driving course?
Mississippi courts can allow a driver cited for a traffic violation to attend an approved defensive driving course instead of having the violation entered on their driving record. Advanced Driving Academy has been an approved provider for this program for years, and offers the same state-approved curriculum both online and in person. When you finish, you receive a Certificate of Completion that you take or mail to the court handling your citation.
How much does the course cost and how long does it take?
The course is $60.00. You have up to 60 days to finish the online version, and you can log in and out as often as you need - your progress is saved. You can pay securely online by credit or debit card, or call 662-429-2163 to arrange payment by money order.
Who is the course for?
- Drivers under 21 may be offered driver education in place of a violation on their record under Mississippi Code 63-1-55.
- Adult first-time violators may be sentenced to a safe-driving school under Mississippi Code 63-9-11, keeping the violation off their record.
- Drivers 55 and older may qualify for a car insurance discount under Mississippi Code 63-15-46.
